icone_tick What is "Graphic Design"?
Graphic design is generally defined as the practice or profession of designing print or electronic forms of visual information, as for an advertisement, publication, or website.

icone_tick What is Vector graphic?
A computer image that is stored and displayed in terms of vectors rather than points, allowing for easier scaling and storage is termed as Vector graphic. Vector graphics (also called geometric modeling or object-oriented graphics) is the use of geometrical primitives such as points, lines, curves, and polygons, which are all based upon mathematical equations to represent images in computer graphics. It is used in contrast to the term raster graphics, which is the representation of images as a collection of pixels, and used as the sole graphic type for actual photographic images.

icone_tick What is a Digital Proof?
A digital proof is a color prepress proofing method where a job is printed from the digital file to an inkjet, color laser, dye sublimation printer, or thermal wax printer to give a good approximation of what the final printed piece will look like. The digital proof is generally less expensive than other proofs that use the printing press and inks.

icone_tick What is Camera Ready Artwork?
Artwork that is properly prepared and ready to be photographed for plate making is camera ready. Traditional prepress consisted of boards or mats with all elements in place. Today, laser or inkjet printouts may serve as camera ready art.

icone_tick What is CMYK?
CMYK (short for cyan, magenta, yellow, and key (black), and often referred to as process color or four colors) is a subtractive color model, used in color printing, also used to describe the printing process itself. Though it varies by print house, press operator, press manufacturer and press run, ink is typically applied in the order of the acronym.

icone_tick What is RGB?
RGB stands for Red, Green and Blue. These colors are used for digital cameras, scanners, computer monitors and T.V. screens. When combined RGB creates white as they are the additive colors of light. Files must be converted from RGB to CMYK if printing on a printing press.

icone_tick How do you start to conceive designs for my project?
Initially, when you provide us with the details of your project, we will examine your current corporate representation or your expectations for the project. From this point, we take any existing corporate material and advertisements and create a layout that is both visually recognizable to your existing customers and incorporate other ideas and designs.

icone_tick I already have a logo. But I have been told that it is not in the correct format. Can you help?
Please note that it usually is because the artwork has been altered to a raster format. This format is only used for final creation of artwork because once it is transformed, it cannot be made bigger with ease, and if it is resized, quality is sacrificed. When it is initially created, more than likely it will be in vector format. This set-up allows the logo to be scaled to any size without losing quality.

icone_tick I am looking for a specific product which I cannot see on your website, can you source it for us?
Please note that our site is merely a sample of what we have to offer, and if you're looking for something specific on our site, give us a call or e-mail us to info@print4half.com, and our customer service department will be glad to offer suggestions.

icone_tick How can I place an order?
The web site provides a facility to place orders online. The list of products will be available and you can choose by clicking on it.

icone_tick Can I email my file(s) to you?
If for some reason your file(s) did not upload properly, you may email your file(s) to artwork@print4half.com. Be sure to include your order number and contact info in your email to ensure proper order processing on our part.

icone_tick What file types are accepted?
AI (Adobe Illustrator), .PSD (Adobe Photoshop), .EPS, .CDR (Corel Draw), .PDF, JPG, .TIF

icone_tick What color space should I send my files in?
All files should be sent in CMYK. Any files submitted in RGB may experience unacceptable color shifting. All files submitted in RGB are automatically converted to CMYK.

icone_tick What is bleed?
Bleed is a printing term that refers to printing that goes beyond the edge of the sheet after trimming. The bleed is the part on the side of your document that gives the printer that small amount of space to move around paper and design inconsistencies.

icone_tick What are the bleed requirements?
All files must include a 1/8" (0.125 inch) bleed regardless if your design bleeds to the edge or not. An example of bleed setup for a 4" x 6" postcard would be 4.125" x 6.125".

icone_tick What is your safe area?
Cutting of your printing piece is done in large stacks and may vary from the top and the bottom of the stack. The safe area or inner margin in which to keep all important elements within to prevent them from trimming off should be at least 1/8" inside the edge of the final trim size.

icone_tick What are the advantages of full color printing?
The highest quality and most tempting print publications are printed in full color using the 4-color (CMYK or Cyan-Magenta-Yellow-Black) offset process. In variation, computer monitors use a different color form called RGB (Red-Blue-Green). The result is often a difference between what we see on the monitor and what we see in a printed material.

icone_tick What are your resolution requirements?
All rasterized (bitmap) images must be at least 300 dpi. However, 400 dpi for photo images and 1200 dpi for text and line art are highly recommended.

icone_tick My image is less than 300 dpi resolution, can it still be printed?
Your image can still be printed at less than 300dpi, but we counsel at least 300dpi to gain the best print quality.

icone_tick Can I include front and back images in 1 file?
Each side of your artwork must be in a separate file. Do not put both front and back in the same file.

icone_tick What type of printing is used?
All products except banners are done using a gang run procedure on offset presses including jobs of 200 and 500 quantities. This is possible due to our highly efficient workflow and job volume. Banner jobs are not offset
