What is "Graphic Design"? |
| |
Graphic design is generally defined as the practice or profession of designing print or electronic forms of visual information, as for an advertisement, publication, or website. |

What is Vector graphic? |
| |
A computer image that is stored and displayed in terms of vectors rather than points, allowing for easier scaling and storage is termed as Vector graphic. Vector graphics (also called geometric modeling or object-oriented graphics) is the use of geometrical primitives such as points, lines, curves, and polygons, which are all based upon mathematical equations to represent images in computer graphics. It is used in contrast to the term raster graphics, which is the representation of images as a collection of pixels, and used as the sole graphic type for actual photographic images.

What is a Digital Proof? |
| |
A digital proof is a color prepress proofing method where a job is printed from the digital file to an inkjet, color laser, dye sublimation printer, or thermal wax printer to give a good approximation of what the final printed piece will look like. The digital proof is generally less expensive than other proofs that use the printing press and inks. |

What is Camera Ready Artwork? |
| |
Artwork that is properly prepared and ready to be photographed for plate making is camera ready. Traditional prepress consisted of boards or mats with all elements in place. Today, laser or inkjet printouts may serve as camera ready art. |

What is CMYK? |
| |
CMYK (short for cyan, magenta, yellow, and key (black), and often referred to as process color or four colors) is a subtractive color model, used in color printing, also used to describe the printing process itself. Though it varies by print house, press operator, press manufacturer and press run, ink is typically applied in the order of the acronym. |
What is RGB? |
| |
RGB stands for Red, Green and Blue. These colors are used for digital cameras, scanners, computer monitors and T.V. screens. When combined RGB creates white as they are the additive colors of light. Files must be converted from RGB to CMYK if printing on a printing press. |

How do you start to conceive designs for my project? |
| |
Initially, when you provide us with the details of your project, we will examine your current corporate representation or your expectations for the project. From this point, we take any existing corporate material and advertisements and create a layout that is both visually recognizable to your existing customers and incorporate other ideas and designs. |
I already have a logo. But I have been told that it is not in the correct format. Can you help? |
| |
Please note that it usually is because the artwork has been altered to a raster format. This format is only used for final creation of artwork because once it is transformed, it cannot be made bigger with ease, and if it is resized, quality is sacrificed. When it is initially created, more than likely it will be in vector format. This set-up allows the logo to be scaled to any size without losing quality. |

What is bleed? |
| |
Bleed is a printing term that refers to printing that goes beyond the edge of the sheet after trimming. The bleed is the part on the side of your document that gives the printer that small amount of space to move around paper and design inconsistencies.
What are the bleed requirements? |
| |
All files must include a 1/8" (0.125 inch) bleed regardless if your design bleeds to the edge or not. An example of bleed setup for a 4" x 6" postcard would be 4.125" x 6.125". |
What is your safe area? |
| |
Cutting of your printing piece is done in large stacks and may vary from the top and the bottom of the stack. The safe area or inner margin in which to keep all important elements within to prevent them from trimming off should be at least 1/8" inside the edge of the final trim size. |
What are the advantages of full color printing? |
| |
The highest quality and most tempting print publications are printed in full color using the 4-color (CMYK or Cyan-Magenta-Yellow-Black) offset process. In variation, computer monitors use a different color form called RGB (Red-Blue-Green). The result is often a difference between what we see on the monitor and what we see in a printed material. |
What are your resolution requirements? |
| |
All rasterized (bitmap) images must be at least 300 dpi. However, 400 dpi for photo images and 1200 dpi for text and line art are highly recommended. |
My image is less than 300 dpi resolution, can it still be printed? |
| |
Your image can still be printed at less than 300dpi, but we counsel at least 300dpi to gain the best print quality. |
Can I include front and back images in 1 file? |
| |
Each side of your artwork must be in a separate file. Do not put both front and back in the same file. |
What type of printing is used? |
| |
All products except banners are done using a gang run procedure on offset presses including jobs of 200 and 500 quantities. This is possible due to our highly efficient workflow and job volume. Banner jobs are not offset |
What line screen are my jobs printed at? |
| |
200 lpi |
What does "line screen" mean? |
| |
A line screen or screen ruling is measured in lines per inch (lpi) or lines of cells per inch in a tint or halftone. |
What are DPI (Dots per Inch) and PPI (Pixels per Inch)? |
| |
Degree of resolution of print, or screen images expressed in terms of the number of printed dots or pixels per linear inch. The higher the dpi, the greater the level of image clarity and sharpness achieved. Most home computer scanners and laser printers produce 300 dpi images. Higher resolution images take up more memory, take longer to scan, and are not necessary for most home applications. Commercial applications require higher resolution images of 600 to 1200 dpi. Pixels per inch (PPI) or pixel density is a measurement of the resolution of a computer display, related to the size of the display in inches and the total number of pixels in the horizontal and vertical directions. This measurement is often referred to as dots per inch, though that measurement more accurately refers to the resolution of a computer printer. PPI may also be used to describe the resolution of an image scanner or digital camera; in this context, it is synonymous with samples per inch.

What is an Aqueous Coating? UV Coating? |
| |
Aqueous coating is a water based coating applied at the end of the print run. It is used to defend the piece from fingerprints and uneven handling. A UV coating is frequently used for the same reason on postcards. Both coatings add an excellent luster to your piece. |
What is the difference between Matte and Gloss aqueous Coating? |
| |
Gloss AQ coating is a coating that has a high gloss that is shiny and matte has a coating that seem by appearance to have a dull finish. |

I want to use images from the Internet - Can I? |
| |
Please note that images from the websites using Internet are generally 72 dpi and in a GIF or JPEG format. These files usually do not provide a good quality image for printing. Color and resolution are removed from these images to allow for rapid transfer on the Internet. So, we don’t recommend you further to that. |
Can I enhance the resolution of a picture? |
| |
No, you cannot enhance the resolution once a picture has been taken. Though you can size and enhance the picture, optimize, and a host of other modification to print a better-looking picture. |
Does Resolution of an Image affect file size and print size? |
| |
Yes. Higher the resolution of a picture greater would be its file size. Image formats such as JPEG compress the image files so that you can store higher resolution pictures in smaller files. Higher resolution pictures also can be used to print larger size pictures. |
Can I change paper, quantity or any other job specifications after I’ve finalized my order? |
| |
Due to the highly automated and fast paced gang-run process, once orders are placed, they are final. Changes cannot be made and orders cannot be cancelled or refunded. |
Can I get a PMS Match on any color item? |
| |
No, PMS Matches are based on a white background. Any product color other than white will affect the PMS color of the imprint and change it. Even printing on a yellow product or light gray / granite will change the appearance of the ink color. |

How do I calculate turnaround time? |
| |
There are two components to turnaround time. First is production time. This is the time to manufacture your job. The second component is transit time. This is the time for the product to reach you. Transit time varies on shipping method used. Both production time and transit time never include weekends or holidays. The day of ordering is not counted as the first day. I.e. Ordering Monday before cut-off with a 2 day turnaround time means the job will be ready to ship on Wednesday (Tuesday = Day 1 of Production, Wednesday = Day 2 of production). |
What if I am not satisfied with my printing? |
| |
We will always do our best to ensure you are satisfied with your printing. If we find the problem a manufacturing defect, we will be more than happy to reprint your job at no extra cost. However we will not be accountable for design flaws on jobs not designed by us - together with but not limited to: typographical errors, resolution issues or not enough bleed for cutting. |
What if the printed piece does not match the proof? |
| |
Please note, as a customer you have the final responsibility for proofreading all contents, and we will complete your project in accordance with industry-wide trade standards for color and registration. Upon approval of the proof, the press operator uses the proof to match color during the print run to ensure its closest match. In case an error at our end, we'll gladly take back any sheets that have the problems and reprint them at our cost. |
What is your return policy? |
| |
Once a job has been delivered or shipped the sale is final. The only exception to the rule is if there was a manufacturing defect. A customer has 48 hours to let us know of any manufacturing defect. Otherwise the sale is considered final. Please send us few samples of your print job so we can find out what went wrong with your job. If we find the problem a manufacturing defect, we will be more than happy to reprint your job. |
